And we're back... with Towels #17
You may (or may not) have noticed the small sabbatical I have been taking from crafting/posting. Not intentional I assure you, but with the sweet little beneficiary of several projects finally came on Father's Day (7 days late) and Camp getting in the way I have been swamped. Thanks to those who reminding me I am running out of time I went for a couple quick wins. These towels fall under that category. I saw the idea on a new (to me) craft blog Aesthetic Nest. She has a tutorial here if you are interested. Back to the grind. I have some big wins in the works, but not quite done. Count down...71 days. Aaaahhhh!

Grocery Bag Holder #16
This is project number 16. I found the instructions here. Like her, I do think it is a tad silly to make such a pretty item that will be kept in the closet, but my other (ugly store bought) one gave it up the other day... well let's be honest... other month so I needed one anyway. I have a small addiction to buying remnants (have I mentioned that before?) and I got to use a bunch of remnants with this. So for a number of reasons this little thing makes me happy. The junky kitchen behind it...not so much, but what can you do?

Ruffle Apron #15
I found this apron on this site here. I did a little tweaking and serged as much as possible. Have I mentioned that I need a serging intervention? It turned out pretty cute and I used fabric I had left over from other projects. I LOVE that. So this brings us to 15 which is the 1/2 way mark. I only have 3 ish months left so I better get busy if I am going to make my 30 project goal.

Baby Quilt #14
I finished this quilt today. I followed the pattern found here. It is part of her 1st quilt ever. This wasn't my first quilt, but I liked that I would get to use 10 fabrics. I had previously fallen in love with the pink/black fabrics at Hobby Lobby. Disclaimer here... there were several places where I think she didn't give very good advice, especially about cutting. If anyone is planing on making this quilt I can give you my 2 cents... but overall the quilt turned out cute.

And the back... I am sort of in love with the owl fabric and really like the extra border she came up with on the back.

Dress # 13
This is the latest in the project completion pile although I have to put an asterisk by it because I didn't actually put the zipper in myself. I am understanding the vast difference in quilt sewing vs clothes sewing. I am the first to admit I am not a super accurate seamstress. Luckily I have practiced enough at quilt type sewing I can *usually* fix or at least minimalize (is that a word?) my mistakes. Clothes sewing... not so much. The important thing? It is finished, she is happy, and her sister is green with envy... which makes her even more happy. A happy kid is a nice byproduct of project completing.

Receiving Blankets #12
I made some receiving blankets for my sister's baby that is coming because I was appalled, APPALLED, at the price of simple flannel receiving blankets in the store. The ones they sell aren't big enough anyway, and either I am super cheap (which I know I am) or people aren't aware how much they mark those puppies up. Any who... stepping off the soap box now, this was my first serging project. I borrowed a serger from my friend and then beat the darn thing into submission. Those sergers are "annoyingly fickle" as someone told me. I finally got it threaded and tensioned properly with new needles and it worked like a dream. I was afraid to call victory until they were all finished, but I am calling it now. VICTORY! Time to ship these off because we are less than 2 weeks from the due date. Oh please baby don't be late!!!

I Spy #11
These super cute and easy I spy bags come in at number #11 on the project count. Very fast and fun. The kids loved them at church today. I know I will be making more. So many ideas... so little time.
